The second event in a series that will take place throughout 2018 is on
Thursday 21 June at 7.30pm.
We are delighted to announce that our speaker is Caroline Slocock who as a young civil servant became the first ever female private secretary to any British Prime Minister and was at Margaret Thatcher’s side for the final eighteen months of her premiership.
As events led to Margaret Thatcher’s downfall, Slocock observed the vulnerabilities and contradictions of the woman considered to be the ultimate anti-feminist.
Her book ‘People Like Us’ is a vivid first-hand account based on her diaries at the time and interviews with other key Downing Street personnel is a remarkable political and personal memoir which charts life inside Thatcher’s No 10 during its dying days and reflects on women in power, then and now.
